Dump Stress In Its Tracks

For some reason I go throughout most of my days in a hurry.  I’m always wanting to get something done.  I usually don’t have to get it done ASAP, but I feel that I should. On some days I never completely relax after a task has been done.  I’ve noticed that some people go throughout their entire day relaxed, no matter how much they need to get done.  In my opinion these people waste less energy and at the end of the day they aren’t near as stressed or tired.  These people can take on much more in life than someone like me can.  Of course unless I can change my automatically hurried, nervous mind.

I’ve started to try to implement some of their tactics into my life.  I’ve often wondered how some people can be calm even though everything around them is chaotic.  It’s amazing how different we all are.  I started to try to recognize when I’m in a hurry, stressed, and aggravated for no apparent reason.  If I take a minute to relax, and realize what is going on around me I calm down.  Going throughout my day in this state makes me INCREDIBLY happier.  It’s amazing what one little mind trick can do.  Although, there are some days that I need to be in a hurry no matter what.  Sometimes I can turn off my hurried mind, but sometimes I cannot.  Slowly, but surely I’m making some changes.  It won’t work for everyone but I hope it works for you!

  1. Notice that you are stressed, or in a hurry when you don’t have to be.
  • Write down the situations in which you feel this way.
  • Have someone remind you.
  1. Look around, pay attention to your surroundings. Realize that you don’t HAVE to be in a hurry.
  2. Breathe deep to slow yourself down. Try to relax.

Another interesting thing to consider is your personality type.  It’s amazingly accurate.  I’m INFJ which is the rarest.  Less than 1% of us have this type, and the description includes the word UPTIGHT… lucky me.  To see yours take this free quiz here.

I hope this helps you!  We are all different, and different tactics work for different people.  What works for you?
