News You Can’t Miss From Shape Magazine

I have been receiving Shape magazine for years.  It is always filled with great health information. The October issue has Jessica Alba on the cover, and she never disappoints.

I had always heard that being dehydrated makes our bodies have to work harder, but I never knew why.  According to Shape magazine a recent study shows that even mild dehydration can harm your heart pulse-trace-163708_1280almost as much as smoking a cigarette.  I don’t know about you, but I’m definitely more motivated to drink more water!  They also mention that as long as you aren’t chronically dehydrated then there probably isn’t any lasting damage.  (What Your Heart Thirsts For)

In the past I remember reading in one of my magazines that throughout your day you lose your willpower the more that you use it.  There were tips on how to save your willpower.  Now there is new research suggesting the complete opposite!  The more you use your willpower the stronger that it will get.  (You’ve got the Power)

Throughout most of my articles I preach that we should make small changes, but one study was out to prove me wrong.  According to a new study we should make many changes at once that work together.  For example:  A better diet helps you feel better so that you’re more motivated to exercise, and exercise makes you sleep better. bed-945881_1280 This means we will get faster results, and we will be more motivated to keep going.  (Take the Makeover Plunge)  Research is constantly changing.  It’s confusing, but at the same time it will lead to more accurate answers in the future.  With every study we are that much closer to the truth.

I do try to drink more, but I’ve found that I also pee far too much when I do. Suggestions? 🙂

I have heard that eventually your body will adjust, and you will pee less. Hopefully that is the case with you, but it has not happened to me! Thanks for commenting.
